BRIDESMAIDING ON A BUDGET

Comments · 500 Views

There is certainly not more exciting than getting your childhood bestie/college roomie/close coworker to ask you to be her bridesmaid.

But let's be real for any second - It's expensive to be considered a bridesmaid! From the bridesmaid dresses, towards the shoes, towards the hair and makeup, towards the spray tans and juice cleanses...after which come the gifts! Shower gifts, bachelorette gifts, wedding gifts...before very long, you're drowning in Crate and Barrel receipts.

Have no fear! We've been around the bridesmaid block several times and put together our tips to be a bridesmaid on a tight budget.

1. BOOK EARLY

Travel is usually required like a bridesmaid. Remember, the first bird has got the worm so determine the dates you're required to show up so you can book your necessary travel plans ahead of time! Whether it's a fun bachelorette weekend in Vegas, or perhaps a destination wedding in Mexico, you will lay aside some cash by booking your flights early! Use travel sites to get the best deals or use those miles you have been saving up.

2. DON'T RSVP TO EVERYTHING

As enjoyable as all of the pre-wedding activities could be, don't seem like you have to attend everything. If you're invited to five showers, maybe just attend two or three of them. The bride will understand you cannot spend every Sunday throughout the Spring playing shower games and ooohing and ahhing over salad bowls. Just remember to politely decline towards the hostess.

3. GO IN WITH YOUR GIRLS

Another method for saving some green? Go in around the gifts together with your girlfriends! Whether they would be the other bridesmaids or simply your clique from college, you'll all appreciate saving some cash by moving in a bigger gift altogether! Scroll through her registry and choose a big-ticket item similar to their bedding or their everyday dishes. That way you know you're getting the pair something they'll love and employ, and it'll lower the price of the gift a little for everyone. It's a WIN-WIN!

4. SHOP AROUND FOR THE PERFECT TAILOR

Even though the floor-length burgundy bridesmaid dresses are probably not your taste, you'll still want to look hot inside them! Tailoring is ALWAYS expected with bridesmaids' dresses, however, you don't have to spend quite a penny to resemble a dime. Shop around for that perfect tailor which will hem your dress to fit together with your nude pumps making the girls look good and perky! Get a few quotes from local tailors to determine how to get probably the most bang for your buck. Or you can always call the FeelTimes for his or her recommendations!

5. BE HONEST WITH THE BRIDE

Remember that after the day, the bride-to-be loves you and also asked you to be her bridesmaid for any reason! She will respect your financial allowance so be truthful with her about your situation. No bride wants her friends to visit broke on her wedding day! Keep supporting her during her engagement in different ways, even if you cannot commit to everything. Make sure to have that talk early so everyone is on the same page! It might be considered a bit awkward but all that matters is that you're standing with her around the big day.
